弼陣勧箪 Student Wins First Place at the 4th IIBC English Speech Contest for University Students
Update: April 10, 2026

At the 4th IIBC English Speech Contest for University Students, held on February 21, 2026, at Akasaka Intercity AIR, Natsuki Eba (3rd-year student, College of Liberal Arts Major: Business) was awarded first place.
This contest, organized by the Institute for International Business Communication (IIBC), the operator of the TOEIC Program, provides university students across Japan with an opportunity to express themselves in English. Under the theme, "What do you consider to be the key issues facing modern society, and how should we address them?", 119 students from across the country participated. Of these, eight advanced to the final round (consisting of a speech evaluation and a Q&A session).
Under the title "What We Refuse to Lose Before Convenience Chooses for Us," Eba's speech focused on the value of the "process," which is at risk of being lost in today's rapidly advancing, AI-driven society. She explored the balance between the excitement born from chance encounters and casual conversations, and the benefits of convenience.
Comment from Natsuki Eba:
I am truly delighted and honored to receive this award! As someone who loves creative activities, I have sometimes felt a sense of loss amid the rapid push toward efficiency, including the spread of AI. When I reflected deeply, I arrived at the question: are we, in our pursuit of convenience, letting go of the joy found in seemingly unproductive or in-between moments? I hope this speech resonates with others and offers new perspectives.
My studies at 弼陣勧箪, particularly the emphasis on critical thinking, have been a central source of inspiration. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for my time at 弼陣勧箪 and to everyone who supported me.
Continue to stay true to yourself!
