Why are racism and LGBTQ+ phobia so prevalent in Central Europe?
How different is their racism from one in the U.S.?
Based on Ivan Kalmar's 2022 book White But Not Quite (Bristol University Press | ) and its
Japanese translation 『白人になれない白人たち：中欧の反リベラリズムとレイシズム』(加藤恵津子?神原ゆうこ?坂田敦志訳、彩流社 2025; ), this lecture-and-symposium explores new definitions and dimensions of racism and phobia, along with their implications as global threats to human rights and dignity.
